Your area for people to pick up scrap and shorts steel is phenomenal. The sizes are perfect for the welding hobbyist and the prices are very reasonable.
I will continue shopping there, but I do have a question about price. The board pricing board stated that steel was sold at 50 cents a pound. I purchased 29 pounds. The total cost came out to be $20.75. This was more then 50 cents a pound, so I looked at the invoice when I got home. (invoice #[PHONE NUMBER REMOVED]) It states I was charged 65 cents a pound.
I do feel that even 65 cents a pound is reasonable, but can’t help but wonder why the stated price and the price charged are not the same. Could you tell me if the employee overcharged me, or do you just not keep your pricing boards up to date? How much will I pay next time I go in?

I’m generally happy with product availability, speed to process orders, price, and service. Affordable local delivery is also a big plus for me. My only recurring issue is that often (probably a third of the time) there is a piece or two in my orders that is not cut to the correct size. Most of my projects entail many pieces, so it’s not practical to measure every individual piece when it comes off the truck. Sometimes it’s a few days between when I receive a delivery and when I begin fabricating and it’s frustrating when something is incorrectly cut and throws a wrench in the schedule. Sometimes I’ve had to have a new piece cut and delivered but most often I just choose to scramble and make some adjustments so I can use what I have.

Today, for example, I found that my most recent order had a piece of 6″ flat bar that was specified at 48″ long and was 49″+ instead. The other two pieces at the same length were correctly cut. I had already fully welded the incorrect piece to another piece before I caught the issue. So my only option was to use an angle grinder to cut the piece to the correct length freehand. Not ideal.

I don’t know what the solution is — maybe a final detailed double-check of all the pieces against the sales order after the cutting is done, by someone other than the person doing the cutting? I like working with you guys and will keep ordering because most things are positive but it would be great if you could tighten up the precision in this area.

I order stainless sheet for kitchen back splash 30″ x 30″. I have cabinets lay 30″ space, the cut stainless sheet came 1/16″ wider than 30″. I don’t have any tool to shave off extra size. I had hard time to fit in the size between cabinets. After install back splash, kitchen is looking good. One more thing I thought sheet had finished edge. I cut finger. I should wear grove when I handling sheet. Or it’s nice to notify handling instruction. Over all I’m happy to get this product.
