I can call and get 4ft of this, 6 ft of that and a 48″×48″ piece of whatever and they always have it.

To unpack that a bit . . . let’s look at the available markets for metals in the US: For individuals or small businesses, the only places I can think of where metals are readily available are (1) Home Depot and Lowe’s have a very small assortment of metals and (2) Metal Supermarkets. There are no other sources. Therefore . . . and to repeat: I like that you exist.
A RELATED OBSERVATION: Metals Supermarkets currently benefits from a market situation where there is no competition . . . yet. As long as Metal Super Markets continues to serve the public well, it’s unlikely that competition will arise. However, if Metal Super Markets becomes lax and does not serve customer needs, motivation for others to enter this market will become strong.

In the two times I’ve done business with them, they’ve always had what I needed. They also allowed me to wander through their warehouse sizing different items for a project I’m working on. My only reason for not giving them a 10 score is that they failed to tell me, after I asked about cutting my material in half, to fit in my truck, that it would delay my pickup by a day. After a 30 mile drive I had to go buy a hacksaw and do it myself. They did, however, not charge me for a piece of scrap aluminum plate that I found there. Not sure if that is SOP but I appreciated it.

honestly, right now I am just learning how to buy metal for some products that I made for work and personal and it is not that simple. I bought a bit of aluminum of amazon to start and I knew I was paying a premium. Home depot is also a terrible place to think about buying any kind of metal.

I have bought some full sheets of aluminum and angle aluminum but mostly I rely on the off cut section which is perfect for a person like me.

The staff has been very helpful for a noob like me and have I have not found them to look down on me for going and buying $50 worth of offcuts at a time.
