Friendly service (Hope) wide selection and good prices will keep me coming back for all of my metals needs. My only criticism is to implement a policy that considers the possibility of a customer showing up only to find that you are closed early. I understand that emergencies arise and closing can become necessary. I had an online order ready for pickup and called on a Friday to add another small piece of cut sheet metal and stated I would be there Saturday to pick it up. Hope verified that my online order was there and ready. I showed up a couple of minutes after noon only to find the place closed. I think maybe a quick check of any outstanding orders and a phone call to let the client know of the situation could have saved me a long drive and the aggravation of walking around the building knocking on doors. At a minimum a note should have been placed on the front door. Hope did apologize and explained that an emergency had been encountered necessitating the closure. Thanks and have a great day!

First off, the customer service was impeccable. It can be a little intimidating for DIYers and hobbyest going into a business that typically caters to construction, the trades and tradesmen/tradeswomen. My experience at some of those places has been; once they detect you’re not a professional and ready to drop a few grand on product, they get impatient and don’t have much time for you.

I didn’t feel that way at Metal Supermarkets. Chip and Bill made me feel more than welcome the minute I walked in the door. Chip walked me back into the shop area, showed me around, answered my questions and helped me get set up to pick out the steel I needed. Both Chip and Bill were friendly, interested in what I was building and treated my like I was a professional welder ready to drop a few grand on steel… even though though they knew I wasn’t on either account. Chip even helped me out to the truck with my haul. Frankly, now that I know I have a friendly, welcoming, no hassle place to buy steel, I’ll be welding and building more often.

I also liked that there was a nice selection of cutoff steel to choose from. I’m not building a trailer, (yet), so I don’t need large pieces of steel that are hard to handle, haul and store. I like to weld and don’t mind putting together a few pieces to get the lengths I need for my projects.

In terms of quality, I’m very, very far from an expert on mild steel but I can say, being a noob, inexperienced welder, I haven’t “burned through” the steel I purchased at metal supermarket nearly as much as I have similar sized steel I have sourced other places. And, it at least seems, I don’t need to be so precise with my welder setup to get a good well. Good, in the sense that the weld is strong, (there is no “dime stacking” and pretty welds that occurs in my garage as yet 😉 At least to me the steel at Metal Supermarkets seems like good quality steel at a reasonable price.

She explained by the inch and they cut it. That was great because I had my measurements in inches. The I think the owner came out to bring the order to my truck. He said he would deliver to my house in Royal Palm Beach, he’s there three times a week. They were all friendly polite and interested in my project. I would definitely go there again.
