First and foremost: Customer experience is THE BEST! It is a pleasure to shop this store.

Secondly, you stock a “drop zone” of valuable remnants for testing and practice and sometimes I need a small piece for convenience. I like to browse and discover a chunk of steel I could live without but want to buy anyway.

You’re front desk folks are generally very helpful and alert. While they are careful not to dispense engineering/safety advice they freely offer what they can and in my experince have been very nice to work with.

That said the website experience and the way the shop works in general needs ALOT of work.

There is BIG potential here especially if you pair minor fabrication (beyond cutting) with the products. You should have the option to pay extra to cut, drill, weld metal stock. I know some of this is offered but it needs to be systematized and the staff need to be retrained.

The lowest hanging fruit for you is the website. You need a serious UX overhaul. If I were you I’d hire the exact same company/team that built the Mcmaster Carr site and pay them gobs of money to create a high functioning online order system.

I am a retired architect who likes to build things but I’m more of a handyman than contractor. The “supermarket” idea appealed to me but I was somewhat disappointed not to find a supermarket but rather an office in front of a warehouse.
If you want clients like me, you should appear more like a retail store and let me wander through your supply.
However, I easily and quickly did get some odd pieces that couldn’t be found at Home Depots etc at a decent price. I was very pleased with your service.

A very upbeat, helpful group of people there. After their showroom having been shut down to walk-ins during Covid, I was impressed with how open, welcoming and personal they were when I went in last month. Even the warehouse guy let me pick up my order before they were technically open one morning. After I selected my stock & paid for it, I had an afterthought and asked if it could be drilled to my specs. Mike at the counter went back into the order and added the drilling charge and said it’d be ready in a couple days. The next day they sent me a notice saying it was ready for pick up!
